Day 1
Ubud: terraces, monkeys, a waterfall
Leave early for Ubud: hit the Tegallalang rice terraces at opening, before the crowds and the heat. Then the Monkey Forest and a stroll through the centre with a warung lunch (babi guling is a must). In the afternoon, Tegenungan waterfall or a jungle swing. Stay for dinner at a jungle-view restaurant or head back to the coast.
Day 2
The Bukit: beaches and Uluwatu Temple
A day on the Bukit peninsula: a morning beach (Padang Padang, Bingin or Melasti), lunch at a warung by the surf. By 5 p.m., Uluwatu Temple: walk the clifftop path, then watch the kecak fire dance at sunset. Dinner is grilled fish on the sand at Jimbaran bay on the way home.
Day 3
A surf lesson and sunset at Tanah Lot
Morning: your first surf lesson in Kuta or Legian — the wave there forgives everything and instructors get you standing in one session. Spend the day on the beach or in Canggu's cafes, then catch sunset at Tanah Lot, the temple on a rock in the ocean. Farewell dinner in Canggu or Seminyak.
FAQ
Which area should I stay in for a short trip?
Seminyak or Canggu: central on the west coast, with easy runs to Ubud, the Bukit and Tanah Lot. A beach and restaurants on your doorstep save the one thing you're short of — time.
Is 3 days enough for Bali?
For the highlights, yes: Ubud, Uluwatu, a surf lesson and Tanah Lot fit without rushing. Nusa Penida, the volcano and the east coast need at least a week.
How do I get around?
A car with a driver for the day is the comfortable option and cheap when shared; a scooter works if you ride confidently. Gojek and Grab ride apps cover the south well.
