How much does two weeks in Bali cost for a couple? (2026)

16 March 2026 · 6 min read

Excluding international flights, a two-week Bali holiday for two people lands somewhere between 1,200 and 6,000 dollars. Here is where the money actually goes, so you can place yourself on that scale.

Level 1: simple, around 1,200 to 1,800 dollars for two

  • Stay: guesthouse rooms or a modest apartment, roughly 25 to 40 dollars a night, so 350 to 560 dollars.
  • Food: warungs and local cafes, around 25 to 35 dollars a day for two, so 350 to 490 dollars.
  • Transport: one scooter plus fuel, around 70 dollars for two weeks, plus a few car trips.
  • Activities: a surf lesson each, temple entries, one day with a driver, around 200 dollars.

Level 2: comfortable, around 2,200 to 3,500 dollars for two

  • Stay: a one-bedroom villa with a private pool, roughly 60 to 110 dollars a night direct from the owner, so 840 to 1,540 dollars.
  • Food: a mix of warungs and good restaurants with cocktails, 60 to 90 dollars a day, so 840 to 1,260 dollars.
  • Transport: a scooter plus two or three full days with a driver at roughly 600,000 to 900,000 IDR each.
  • Activities: a Nusa Penida day trip, Mount Batur sunrise, massages, a beach club day: 400 to 600 dollars.

Level 3: upmarket, 5,000 dollars and up

A two-bedroom cliff or beachfront villa, a private driver on call, fine dining most evenings, a private boat day and spa treatments. Easy to spend, and the accommodation line dominates everything else.

Fixed costs regardless of level

  • Visa on arrival: 500,000 IDR each, about 35 dollars, see the visa guide.
  • Tourist levy: around 150,000 IDR per person, paid online or on arrival.
  • Airport transfer both ways: see the airport taxi guide.
  • Travel insurance, which must cover scooters if you intend to ride.
  • Temple and attraction entries, usually 30,000 to 100,000 IDR per person each.

What moves the total most

  1. Season. July, August and the New Year fortnight add 20 to 50 percent to accommodation. The same trip in May or September costs far less for better weather than most people expect.
  2. How many bases. Two bases is ideal; four means paying for transfer days you could have spent on a beach. See the seven-day itinerary.
  3. Where you eat. A warung plate is 30,000 to 50,000 IDR; the same dish in a western restaurant is three to four times that, as detailed in the food cost guide.
  4. Whether you book direct. Platform commission of 15 to 25 percent on the accommodation line is often the single largest avoidable cost of the whole trip.

A realistic split for 2,800 dollars

Five nights in Seminyak to land softly and walk to dinner, five nights in Ubud for terraces and waterfalls, four nights on the Bukit for cliffs and sunsets. One scooter, two driver days, one island trip, no regrets.

Where to save without downgrading

Keep the villa and cut the commission. Renting direct from the owner means the owner's rate, a written rental agreement and a manager you can ask about early check-in after a night flight. Compare the real prices in the rentals catalogue, or ask in the FAQ.
