Where to eat in Uluwatu & Bingin

The Bukit feeds you with a view: most Uluwatu venues sit on cliffs above the ocean or beside surf spots. Two worlds run in parallel — stylish cliff restaurants with sunset sets, and simple beach warungs where surfers eat nasi goreng straight out of the water. Distances are long; you'll want a scooter.

Where to go

Cliff cafes & restaurants

Rp 100,000–250,000 a dish

Views & sunset

Venues on the cliffs all the way from Padang Padang to Melasti: tables above a hundred-metre drop, sunset light, menus from smoothie bowls to seafood. Book ahead for sunset hours.

Surf warungs on the beaches

Rp 30,000–60,000 a meal

Local food

On the stairways down to Bingin, Padang Padang and Suluban — family warungs with nasi campur, jaffles and fresh juices. Near-local prices, million-dollar view.

Grilled fish on Bingin beach

Rp 150,000–300,000 for two

Dinner on the sand

In the evening Bingin's warungs set tables on the sand and grill the day's catch: pick your fish, wait for sunset, eat to the sound of waves. High tide can swallow the beach — time it for low tide.

Cafes around Pecatu

Rp 60,000–120,000 a dish

Breakfast & coffee

Inland around Pecatu village — coffee shops and brunch cafes for the resident surfers and remote workers: specialty coffee, bowls, pastries. Cheaper than the cliff spots, no queues.

Street food & markets

There's less street food on the Bukit than in Kuta — the area is spread out and lives around its beaches. Satay and martabak carts appear at the Pecatu crossroads in the evening, and fruit is cheapest at the stalls along the main road to Ungasan.

FAQ

Is eating in Uluwatu expensive?

Cliff restaurants run Rp 100,000–250,000 a dish; warungs by the surf spots Rp 30,000–60,000. The difference is the setting — the produce often comes from the same market.

Where should I have a sunset dinner?

Either a cliff cafe between Suluban and Melasti for the high view, or Bingin beach for grilled fish on the sand. Arrive an hour before sunset in both cases.

Do I need a scooter to eat out?

Practically yes: venues are scattered between villages and beaches. On foot you're limited to your own beach, and evening taxis need to be booked ahead.
